More that a year passed since the term in office of Dragoljub Mirjanic expired, and Banja Luka University still hasn’t elected a new Chancellor. The optimistic expectations shared by the Chairman of the University Council, Jovo Stojcic, and the representatives of the Students Organization that a new Chancellor would be elected by the start of October and the new academic year, did not materialize.
'The Council could not adopt the decision to appoint the new Chancellor because we have not received the nomantions from the Education and Science Council. They are yet to convene on this matter and the information that I have is that the majority of schools and faculties have not submitted their nominations”, said Stojcic.
The University Council has demanded from the incumbent Chancellor Mirjanic, who will perform the office until new chancellor is elected, to accelerate the procedures.
Mirjanic says that the Deans of the individual schools will submit their nominations by the end of this month, and that the Council can review the nominations sometimes in November at the earliest.
'Due to the intensive activities related to the celebration of the 30th Anniversary of the Univesity, only three of the 13 faculties submitted their nominations”, added Mirjanic.
