ZFF Supports the Roma Inclusion Decade

The Zagreb Film Festival offered its support to the “Roma Inclusion Decade 2005-2015” initiative and included a dedicated “The Wheel” programe to the Programme of the Festival.
The Roma Decade initiative offers financial assistance to the state-signatories, NGOs and beneficiaries with the aim to improve the overall status of the Roma minority, primarily through education, health and employment. The already crowded programme for October 18 started with the presentation of the “Healthy Community” manual, prepared by the “Roma for Roma” Association. The same association als presented the life of the Roma in Medjimurje on film, and through a concert of traditional Roma music. The same night, “Zlatna Korita” band recorded its first album. Bajro Bajric, the president of the Association, said at the press conference that the biggest problem of the Roma in Croatia lies in the fact the “... nobody takes us (the Roma) as partners who work on our self-advancement”. Bajric emphasized that it is exactly that type of partnership work that is crucial to achivement of better status for the Roma. |
