Kosovo Ombudsperson announces the “Children’s Rights Awareness Campaign”

Coinciding with the beginning of the 2005-2006 school year in Kosovo, the Children’s Rights Team (CRT) within the Ombudsperson Institution in Kosovo announces the re-launch of a Kosovo-wide “Children’s Rights Awareness Campaign”.

The aim of the “Children’s Rights Awareness Campaign” is to disseminate information regarding the CRT’s activities within the Ombudsperson Institution in Kosovo directly to children.

Representatives of the Children’s Rights Team will go to individual schools throughout Kosovo to put on presentations describing to students what their rights are and the resources available to them.

The primary activities of the CRT include conducting investigations into general aspects of violations of children’s’ rights, as well as dealing with individual complaints from children or those representing children.

The CRT consults with the Ombudsperson about which course of action would be most appropriate, always taking into account the best interests of the children concerned.

Children can personally, or through a representative, approach the CRT in order to lodge their complaints regarding abuse and other related children’s rights violations.

All schools wishing to participate in the information campaign can contact the CRT within the Ombudsperson Institution via fax ++381 38 545 302 or e-mail at the following address: crt@ombudspersonkosovo.org
