Prishtina – Commission for Education, Science, Technology, Culture, Youth and Sports of the Kosovo Parliament held a public hearing in regard to the Project Law on Kosovo Cultural Heritage. In this debate, objections and suggestions were made by the experts in this field relevant to the Project Law. Participants evaluated that the Project Law should be more comprehensive.

Leader of the Institute for Protection of Monuments in the Prishtina region, Haxhi Mehmetaj, said that during the compilation of Project Law for Cultural Heritage, no experts in this field took part. He also requested that this Project Law is returned back for review to the sponsor, respectively to the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Meanwhile, Director of the Institute for Protection of the Kosovo Monuments, Baki Svirca, underlined that the Law should specify very clearly that cultural heritage is neither property of an individual nor of juridical persons, but it is rather property of the state.
