The Roma IDPs will soon be able to return to their old homes in Southern Mitrovica
These Roma are currently sheltered in camps in northern part of Mitrovica while the aim of authorities is to return them to their original homes in southern part of the town, in particular to their old neighbourhood called “the Roma Avenue”.

According to the Mitrovica Municipal Assembly, the construction of the buildings and housing for the Roma and their return is expected to take place as planned.

Meanwhile, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees – UNHCR has drawn a list with names of persons that are willing to return. However, Roma community members say that they want distinctive conditions for return such as safety, freedom of movement and their employment.
