Institutions Don’t Implement the Law on Access to Information

About 60 percent of local institutions, and approximately a third of national level institutions don’t implement the provisions of the Law on Free Access to Information, shows the latest survey conducted by Transparency Serbia.

Presenting the results of the third round of survey, Nemanja Nenadic, the Programming Director at Transparency, said that the number of institutions prepared to fulfill their obligations in accordance with the Law is “on a very slow rise”.

“Those that took their obligations seriously already answered the questions in our questionnaire in the first or second round of survey. As far as the rest of them are concerned, we shouldn’t expect any improvement in the future” said Nenadic.

Nenadic, together with Vladimir Goati, President of Transparency Serbia, invited the Skupstina (Parliement) and its Committee on Finances, to inform the public about the planned completion of the financial review of political parties, as well as the date the reports will be published.

They warned of the possibility that the eventual violators may escape sanctioning if the data is not published on time. (Beta)
