Microsoft Windows XP Operating system has been localized for the first time in Albanian language due to the engagement of the Center for Education and Progress, local Microsoft partner for Kosovo.

The system has been localized and will be available for use shortly, announced the Centre for Education and Progress at the presentation it organized under the auspices of the Seminar on Albanian Language, Literature and Culture, currently under way in Prishtina.

Microsoft Windows XP in Albanian has been implemented by the Center for Education and Progress in cooperation with the Institute of Linguistics and Literature and INIMA in Tirana, with Alba-Soft and with great support from Microsoft. Localization has been made for the Microsoft clients, of course implying all the reserved rights of Microsoft.

Director of this Center, Lulëzim Shishani said that the localization process wasn’t just reduced to direct translation, but rather, it was a process of adjustments of text and cultural content for the planned audience, which means adjustments with some cultural and language traditions. Technical and content problems have been taken under consideration. During the localization, meaning of the words has been guarded and syntactic adjustment was made according to the rules of Albanian language.

Localization of this system ranks the Albanian Language in the group of 50 languages that have translated and localized Windows Operating System.
