Booksellers Demand from the State to Prevent the Sale of Schoolbooks on the Black Market

The Association of Booksellers of Macedonia demands the resignation from the National Inspector of Education, Blagorodna Lakinska, as well as intensified action by the Markets Inspectorates to prevent the sale of schoolbooks on the black market.

The Association also warned of the fact that the Principals of elementary and secondary schools in Macedonia don’t follow the orders by the Ministry of Education and failed to present the lists of schoolbooks that will be necessary for this school year. The timely information for the parents and students about the necessary books is one of the ways to prevent the manipulations in the sale of schoolbooks registered over the past several years.

According to the Association, truckloads of schoolbooks were already unloaded in a number of schools in Macedonia, and in Kumanovo and Stip, the students were asked back in June to make a down payment for the books that will be delivered to them at the beginning of the school year, prior to any decision which books will be officially accepted by the Ministry.
