Fun School Sports Project Promoted

The Macedonian Ministry of Education and Science, with financial support by the Norwegian Embassy IN Skopje, will start the implementation of the “Fun School Sports” project in five elementary schools in Macedonia.

This experimental project, designed for children from ethnically mixed environments, will include 640 children, aged seven to 11, from Jegunovce, Semsovo, Suto Orizari, Kicevo and Probistip.

"This educational project should teach the children to take care of their personal hygiene, to follow the rules and get disciplined and get socialized”, said Zoran Popovski, State Secretary at the Ministry.

The Embassy of Norway donated 62.500 EUR for the implementation of the pilot-project for one year. Vlado Dimovski, Project Director, said that the funds will be used to purchase equipment that will be left to the schools after the end of the project, while a part of the funds will be spend to organize training seminars and to cover the transportation costs of the trainers, who will work on voluntray basis.

Dimovski also explained that, due to the restricted available funds, not all the children in the said schools will be included in the project, but the teaching staff will select one class per school.
