Seminar on Copyrights Held in Belgrade

Copyrights set limits

The traditional system of copyright protection is completely inadequate and unsustainable in the era of internet and new digital technology, concluded the seminar on information and communication technology held at the “Dom Omladine” in Belgrade.

“Back in the days, the means of production and printing of authors’ works, especially music and films, were expensive and unreachable, and their distribution was restricted. Today, however, the situation is quite opposite”, said Slobodan Markovic, Director of the Centre for Development of Internet.

It was emphasized at the seminar that the piracy in Serbia, from the all time high of 95% during the wars in former Yugoslavia, was reduced to about 70%, which is a very high level, having in mind that in developed countries, the level of less then 20% are considered tolerable.

The seminar dedicated to organization, systematization, legislation and coordination and management of the internet and other forms of transfer of information was organized by "Ars et norma" NGO, lead by Sladjana Milosevic, Serbian pop-star.
