Collaboration Agreement on establishing a connection between CARNet and BIHARNet networks was signed in beginning of July of this year. In August BIHARNET will be revitalised by the connection to the GEANT network through CARNet from Zagreb.
The first phase of the operation is to connect BIHARNet and CARNet that will made possible Internet sharing and advanced network services between users of both networks, like videoconferences, high speed sharing of multimedia and other data, and also design joint projects.
The second phase of the project includes the establishment of connection of BIHARNet with GEANT through the CARNet. Reactivation of the BIHARNet is also planed by the action plan of the B&H Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRSP) for 2005.
Through the implementation of this plan, CARNet will become a link network that is going to make possible for GEANT to spread, as well as increase the GEANT's prominence in Zagreb. Through this link, BIHARNet starts the process of renewal of its activities, prerequisite to establish links with European and international academic database networks.
