Last week, August 3, the Tirana Municipality adopted a decision to introduce fines and penalties for citizens that don’t follow the official schedule for waste collection as installed by the Municipal Council.

On the same day, the Municipal authorities started a review of all private companies, under the official campaign to prepare a schedule for waste collection by the communal services. The review will include the private waste collection companies if they issued their collection schedules and will fine those that violated the adopted rules and regulations.
The whole process will be monitored by volunteers who will try to provide photographic evidence of every case in which citizens or business failed to respect the agreed schedule. The evidence will be then submitted to the Tirana Municipal Communal Inspectorate, in accordance with the existing legislation.
Last week marked the end of cooperation between the EDEN Centre and the Municipality of Tirana, on the joint “Campaign for Environmental Education” project. Placing dustbins along the Zogu I Boulevard, as well as the “Blloku” residential area was also a part of this project.
