HCR Warns the Citizens to Be Watchful of Mines

After the latest casualty was claimed by leftover landmines, the Croatian Mine Action Centre warned the citizens not to enter the marked minefields, suspicious looking areas, and to observe the signs that warn of land mines.

Should they run into suspicious looking objects, the citizens should immediately inform the authorities and leave the demining to the experts, warned HCR.

HCR also reminds the public that, in addition to systematically laid minefields, the danger can come from other explosive devices left over from the war.

The last incident on Velebit was caused by just such an device, a cassette bomb segment that was fired kilometres away from the frontline, in an area that was not marked as potential minefield.
