The World Bank Office to B&H congratulated the citizens of Mostar on the decision by the UNESCO Committee on World Heritage to list the Old Bridge and the historical quarters of the city into the list of world monuments of cultural heritage. This achievement is an important step forward in the process of reconciliation and the economic development of Mostar.

”This is an important recognition for the Herculean efforts by the City of Mostar”, said Dirk Reinermann, the Head of the World Bank Office in B&H, in his letter to the City Council of Mostar.

Reinermann also mentioned the efforts by the citizens of Mostar, the City Administration and the people that were directly involved in the Cultural Heritage Project, implemented over the past seven years.

”The World Bank is proud of its support to Mostar, through the Pilot-Project of Cultural Heritage. We hope for future similar cooperation with the City”, added Reinermann.

Since 2006, the World Bank has invested 1.1 billion US Dollars in Bosnia and Herzegovina, through 51 projects.
