Karst water protection by Dalmatian Greens

On July 13, Dalmatia Greens (DG) NGO held an eco-meeting on the springs of the Jadro River. The meeting was s follow up of DG actions to preserve karst waters in Split-Dalmatia District in Croatia.

Marijana Kragic, the DG spokesperson, said that the aim of the meeting was to focus the public attention on the devastation in Klis Kosa quarry, in the immediate vicinity of the Jadra.

DG believes that prolongation of quarry activities is dangerous because it can provoke huge damage and unforeseen consequences to the fresh water supply for more than 300 thousand residents of Dalmatia.

Kragic warned that immediate and effective protection of the Jadro from waste waters and sewage is needed. Meeting of DG ended in an action to clean the waste and litter thrown around the springs of the river.
