Osijek and Pecuh together in care for nature, people and goods

The Osijek-Baranja District signed a Collaboration Agreement on Rescue and Crisis Management in Cases of Natural Disasters and Catastrophes with the Baranya County in Hungary. The agreement was signed in Pecuh and is a part of a long term programme designed to increase the public safety. The agreement is part of the ongoing ‘Cross-border collaboration in nature disaster protection and safety’ project, the implementation of which started last year.

The signatories agreed to undertake joint activities, as defined by the ‘Agreement’ between Government of Republic Croatia and Government of Republic Hungary on collaboration in nature disaster protection, safety and other national and international law and regulations. Preventive arrangements will be conducted together in the cases of floods, earthquakes, fires and radiation threat protection and other catastrophes that civilization can be engaged in.

It was emphasized that it is of utmost importance to establish a joint warning and monitoring system on dangers and consequences of natural catastrophes. The Agreement provides for collaboration in organization and implementation of joint training in personal and overall protection of the general public. Special concern in training will be given to students and members of humanitarian NGOs.
