Belgrade-Pristina Media Cooperation

Journalists and editors from several Pristina and Belgrade media gathered yesterday at the “Belgrade-Pristina Media Dialogue” meeting, organized in Belgrade under the auspices of the Civil Dialogue. The participants in the event estimated that the media from Kosovo and Serbia should cooperate and exchange information.

The event was officially opened by the representatives of the NGO cooperation project, Centre for Regionalism, “Mother Theresa” Humanitarian Society and the OSCE Mission to Kosovo.

According to Zef Salja, the director of “Mother Theresa” Society, one possible form of future cooperation should be the joint projects, on which tender competition should be opened in the foreseeable future. Salja said that it would be necessary if such projects are jointly implemented by at least one media from Serbia and Kosovo each, and the inclusion of more than one media would be more than welcome.

The joint conclusion was that the Serbian public should get better informed about the events in Kosovo, and vice versa.

The Project for Cooperation of Belgrade and Pristina media focuses on the renewed cooperation between Kosovo and Serbia civil sectors, creation of an environment of trust and tolerance, as well as normalization of overall relations in the area and the region in general.
