Danube Day Celebrations

The Danube Day, July 29, is international manifestation with many different events are organized in all 13 countries along the Danube River, designed to attract the attention to the need for protection of the Danube and its waters. Events will be organized under the Danube Day observance, with the aim to encourage the states, communities and organizations to cooperate in taking action to protect the rivers in the area.

Members of Green Action from Zagreb, environmental organization involved in the Danube Environmental Forum DEF - an international NVO network for protection of the Danube, shall organize the celebrations of the Danube day on July 2, at Kopacki Rit Park of Nature.

The participants in the celebrations will be able to familiarize with the Kopacki Rit Park of Nature and participate in the round table discussion on the subject �Protection of Ecosystem of Mura, Drava and Danube rivers�.

The central celebration of the Danube Day will be organized by the International Commission for Protection of the Danube in Budapest. The occasion will be used to mark the 15th anniversary of the work of the center Regional Environmental Centre.

REC, together with UNDP and the Global Environmental Found, leads the Danube regional project concerning the community involvement.
