Workshop on Court Procedures Against Journalists

A three day workshop (June 13-15) started today at the Media Centre Nis. The workshop will deal with court trials and charges brought against journalists for slander and libel.

The workshop is organized by the Media Centre Nis, in cooperation with the Human Rights Lawyers Committee YUCOM, with the support by the US Embassy in Belgrade.

The workshop is dedicated to journalists of local and regional media in southeast Serbia. This is the first of the two planned workshops, and it will host participants from the local media in Bujanovac, Leskovac, nis, Dimitrovgrad, Vladicin Han, Kursumlija, Medvedja and Gadzin Han.

In addition to a review of legislative and theoretical aspects of this problem, the workshop will include practical exercises with the representatives of the judiciary.
