Croatian Hunting Asociation Hijacks the Concession Fees from the Local Communities

Zelena akcija environmental association send an opinion on the proposed changes in the Law on Hunting, which is greatly damaging to the owners of land covered by hunting grounds, to the Members of Croatian Sabor (the Parliament).

The Draft, currently in Parliamentary Procedure, introduces drastic and scandalous changes in the distribution of funds collected through hunting grounds concessions, as well as the area covered by hunting grounds.

The land not included in licensed hunting ground is reduced, so that the whole of Croatia is turning in a single huge hunting ground, and the protective zone surrounding the populated areas is reduced, in the mountainous and hilly areas, from 300 metres to 200 metres in diameter.

The Law on Hunting legalizes the robbery of the local population and local communities, having in mind that it reduces the compensation for established hunting grounds on private land from 80% to 25% of the Concession Fee, while the Croatian Hunting Association will get 35% of the concession income.

This Law literally gives the Hunting Association the right to rob the owners of the land, who have no say in the way the hunters use the privately owned forests or arable land and are never compensated for the damages caused by hunting companies or dog packs, of their income.

(Zelena Akcija invites you to join them and send you own opinion to Minister of Agriculture Petar Cobankovic, at office@mps.hr
