The meeting discussed the reply that Dubravko Tkalcic, the President of the Pipeline Board of Directors sent to “BEUS” association from Slavonski Brod open letter with inquiries about the increased frequency of oil leaks over the past few months. Tomislav Lukic, the vice-president o BEUS presented the reply to the gathered organizations.

After the exchange of information on the past incidents, the representatives of various environmental organizations concluded that the company covered up a significant number of incidents and never reported it in public, as well as that the company downplayed the seriousness of the consequences of the leaks.

Also, the meeting concluded that the reaction of the competent services of the Jadranski Naftovod company was less then professional and that the decontamination was not complete, so that the contaminated soil was not properly conserved and still presents environmental hazard, especially to the underground water.

The environmental associations also accuse the water-management inspectors that investigated the incident sites of irresponsible reaction to the possible hazard for the underground water reservoirs, for they issued their opinion about the nonexistent contamination and hazards rather prematurely.

The participants in the meeting agreed to request from JANAF the plan of interventions in cases of accidents. The next meeting of the associations will be held in Zagreb, in about ten days, to discuss the operational plan for future cooperation.
