On the afternoon of Friday, November 18, 2005, one of three stakeholders taking part in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) drew a line in the sand. Civil society (CS) representatives from all continents lined up on a panel to deliver a stark closing statement. At the same time, International Telecommunications Union UN-o-crats drew conclusions of their own a couple of hundred meters away in the plenary room.

Prvi dan sam bila očajna traeći ene po prostoru uz toliko nadmoćnu prisutnost mukaraca, posebno onih uniformiranih i naoruanih. No, kad sam malo pogledala uokolo, vidjela sam (osim participanata) preteno ene u ruičastom koje rade kao čistačice i hodaju okolo vukući vreće sa smećem.

"Zadivljen sam raznim nacinima upotrebe ICT-a, koji su ovde prezentovani. Video sam Nokijin stand prepun ljudi koji su se slikali mobilnim telefonima i nosili bedzeve sa tim slikama", culo se kako je rekao Taurai Maduna dok je pijuckao pice u holu sale u kojoj se odrzava WSIS, u severnom Tunisu.

U sredu popodne, 16. novembra, tunizanska Liga za ljudska prava (LTDH) pozvala je novinare i nevladine organizacije na nesto sto se pretvorilo u maratonske razgovore u kojima je tunizanska vlada izazvana zbog svog odnosa prema ljudskim pravima.

Wednesday afternoon, November 17, the Tunisian Human Rights League (LTDH) invited the press and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for what was to become a marathon of explicit talks challenging the Tunisian government on its human rights record. While heads of states speeches present at the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) were pouring in on all TV channels, revolution was just around the corner in another district of Tunis. Bio je to izrazito naporan, hektičan i rastresen dan, tako da se nadam da ću dati barem kratak pregled prije nego to padnem od umora. Dakle, nakon gotovo sedmogodinjeg rada na ovom procesu, konačno vezujemo vezice i pribliavamo se dogovoru. Da, riječ je o otvaranju WSIS-a II!

Nastanot, imaku prilicno impresiven, na koj govorea Kofi Anan, generalen sekretar na ON, tuniskiot pretsedatel Zine El Abidine Ben Ali, Yoshio Utsumi, generalen sekretar na megunarodniot sendikat za telekomunikacii i dr, sepak ostana odbelezan po obrakjanjeto na Shirin Ebadi, pretsedatel na Ligata za covekovi prava od Tunis (LTDH) i dobitnik na Nobelovata nagrada za mir 2003. Vo svoeto obrakanje Ebadi se osvrna najmnogu na zacuvuvanjeto na slobodata na govorot, a istakna deka e neprifatlivo vo ON seuste da clenuvaat zemji koi otvoreno koi krsat covekovite prava.

It has been a crazy tiring, hectic and running-around day, so I am hoping to give a small glimpse at least before I pass out into oblivion. Druga faza WSIS-a i zvanično je danas otvorena. Ne plenarnoj sjednici koja je uslijedila, najveći aplauz dijela auditorija gdje su bili smjeteni predstavnici građanskog drutva dobio je Samuel Scmid, vajcarski predsjednik, za svoje komentare o slobodi izraavanja na internetu. The WSIS Second Phase opened officially today. In the followign plenary session, the largest applause by the civil society section of the plenary hall was given to Swiss President Samuel Schmid, for his comments on freedom of speech on the internet. Read more on APC blog dedicated to WSIS.

APC je u procesima internet upravljanja učestvovao isključivo na Svjetskom samitu o informatičkom drutvu. Izvan ovog učeća, a u saradnji sa ostalim partnerima, uključujući članove WSIS internet upravljanja u civilnom drutvu, APC je kristalizovao set preporuka upućenih liderima Samita u Tunisu.
