Non-Governmental associations can have a crucial role in the process of public awareness raising about the environment. These activities are particularly important in the countries of the Southeast Europe. They provide a great opportunity in the region for two reasons: First, the majority of people in the region, especially in the poor transition countries, direct their efforts to the protection of their habitat and to sustainable management of their resources. Zelena Akcija (Green Action) environmental organization reacted to the announced cooperation of Cardinal Bozanić and Mayor Milan Bandic, on five different projects. Zelena Akcija focused on two of the projects – plans to build 2,500 apartments in developments in Strug on Žitnjak and the proposed Museum of Sacral Art in Nova Vesa.
