29.09.2006 Stockholm: Ruth Manorama a Dalit herself, 'for her commitment over Dalit women's causes, has bagged the 2006 Right Livelihood Award, better known as Alternate Nobel Prize, it was announced by Akob von Uexkull, the founder of the awards, during a ceremony at the Swedish Foreign Ministry's press room on Thursday.

22.09.2006 Since its inception in January 1984, The Faculty of Gender Studies at the National Institute of Rural Development has developed expertise on planning, management of women development programmes and self-help groups, issues relating to gender, entrepreneurship development, empowerment, etc. It conducts training, research and consultancy programmes regularly on these. The upcoming TOT is going to be held at NIRD, Hyderabad from 23-28th October, 2006.

SMSericama, odvjetnicama, trenericama, pjesnikinjama, web-menadžericama, teoretičarkama, graffiti umjetnicama, fotografkinjama... da preuzmu kontrolu nad informacijsko-komunikacijskim tehnologijama i svjesno ih koriste da poremete rodne odnose. Nužno je preoteti tehnologiju kako bi se povratio kritički doprinos žena razvoju ICT, kao i svoje PROSTORE i PRAVA kako bi se napravio pomak, oblikovalo, definiralo, sudjelovalo, koristilo, dijelilo slobodno bez uznemiravanja ili prijetnje sigurnosti.

08.09.2006 Saper leggere e scrivere è un abilità ancora negata a 781 milioni adulti di cui i tre quarti sono donne. Oltre 103 milioni di bambini, inoltre, non va a scuola, ed anche in questo caso la maggioranza sono femmine. Sono i dati diffusi dall’Unesco in occasione della Giornata mondiale per l’alfabetizzazione. Non mancano i segnali positivi: negli ultimi anni le scuole elementari dell’Africa Subsahariana e dell’Asia Meridionale e Occidentale hanno visto oltre 20 milioni di scolari in più in ciascuna di queste regioni. E 20 nuove nazioni sono sulla buona strada per rispettare entro il 2015 l’obiettivo di fornire l’istruzione primaria all’interna popolazione infantile. Intanto Save the Children lancia la campagna per garantire entro il 2010 educazione di qualità a 8 milioni di bambini in paesi in guerra.
