The fire that started on the Turkish ship Und Adriyatica yesterday morning, some 15 miles east off Rovinj, still burns, although it has lost much of its power. Experts estimate that there is little chance for explosion that could sink the ship. No pollution was released into the sea, so far.

The Croatian Electronic Media Council, at its meeting with Mila Jelavic, the Children Ombudsperson and representatives of HTV, RTL and Nova TV, the leading broadcasters in the country, condemned broadcasts of contents unsuited for children.

Srdjan Dvornik, Executive Director of the Croatian Helsinki Committee says that public comments by organizations attacked by the defense team of Branimir Glavaš, or any other public statement for that matter, can’t be used as a justification to exclude the public from the trial, as demanded by Glavaš’s lawyer, Veljko Miljević.

An NGO coalition accuses the Government of Croatia of causing the loss of funding from the European pre-accession funds through its incompetence and demands urgent strengthening of capacities of the Central Unit for Financing and Negotiations with the Ministry of Finance and introduction of quality control system.

The Coordination of six Trade Union organizations agreed yesterday, in principle, on joint union protests against rising costs of living and deteriorating standards of living of Croatian citizens. The decision has to be confirmed by the leadership of the biggest trade union, Union of Independent Trade Unions of Croatia (SSSH).
