Zorislav Antun Petrović, President of Transparency International Croatia says a chanced was missed to completely solve the issue of conflict of interest in the proposed changes and amendments to the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest, primarily in terms of its effective implementation.

On the occasion of the 30th Earth Day, a number of activities are planned to take place all over Croatia, involving a number of nongovernmental associations and Government institutions. The focus of the Croatian events will be put on the problem of waste disposal and recycling.

The non-governmental organizations failed in their intent to collect 450,000 signatures for the petition to call for referendum on Croatian membership in NATO. After two weeks of petition signing, they managed to collect slightly over 150,000 signatures.

After the Government of Croatia sent the Draft-Law on Changes and Amendments to the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest to be adopted by the Sabor (Croatian Parliament) in an urgent procedure, the Partnership for Social Development points out at a series of omissions in the process of preparation of amendments and the contents of the proposed changes.

The campaign to collect signatures by Croatian citizens for the petition to call for referendum that will ask the question Do you want for Croatia to Join NATO started on Saturday, April 29. On the first day, over 15,000 citizens signed the petition.
