Women in Black celebrate December 9
09.12.2004 The Women in Black, in cooperation with several other nongovernmental organizations, organized the “Extradite Them” anti-militarist action on the occasion of December 10, International Day of Human Rights. Their action conveyed the message that war crimes ought to be punished and the suspects extradited to the Hague Tribunal.

08.12.2004 Although they regularly announced their gathering on the occasion of the International Day of the Human Rights, December 10, the Women in Black were informed by the authorities that their street protest, planned to be held in front of the Parliaments of Serbia and SCG was not permitted. Therefore, all planned activities will take place on December 9, on the Republic Square in Belgrade, starting at 11:00 hours.

07.12.2004 The Volunteer Centre, as one of the programmes active under the auspices of the Centre for Development of the Non-Profit Sector (CRNPS), has been active for six years. It is the first centre in Serbia that works on promotion and development of volunteer work, education of organizations that wish to include volunteers in their activities, as well as orientation and training of volunteers for work in organizations.

Street crossing for the disabled persons in Belgrade.
03.12.2004 We rarely talk about them. They are nowhere to be found on the front pages of the newspapers, politicians sometimes visit them, provided that there is an electoral campaign going on. Everybody remembers them only on December 3, International Day of Disabled Persons.

03.12.2004 The goal of this exchange programme, supported by the United States Institute for Peace, is to establish communication between the youth from Kosovo and Serbia. The process of getting to know each other, the war stories, exchange of experience and learning should help the youth to break the circle of hatred and build a better future for the region.

Participants in the study trip in the tri-border area
02.12.2004 In the organization of the Danube Environmental Forum Secretariat (DEF Secretariat), a study trip was organized for non-governmental and governmental organizations from three Danube countries (Hungary, Croatia and Serbia and Montenegro). The study trip included a visit to the three-border region of Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic, with the goal to introduce the achievements in cross-border cooperation and the protection of the flood-lands of the Rivers Morava and Dyje.

02.12.2004 The amount of foreign trade of Montenegro with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe could increase by one fifth of the total trade, believes the Government of Montenegro, provided that the free trade agreements are fully respected and implemented.

01.12.2004 According to the information available from the UN AIDS Agency, there are 39.4 million people infected with HIV virus in the world. In 2004 alone, 3.1 million AIDS related deaths were registered, reports the UNAIDS on the occasion of December 1, the World AIDS Day. Of the total number of infected, 37.2 million people are between the ages of 15 and 49, while 2.2 million are children under 15 years of age. In 2004, 4.9 million newly infected were registered, 4.3 million adults and 640,000 children.

29.11.2004 In a reaction to the measures and activities adopted and implemented by the Municipality of Podgorica in the process of solving the problem of illegal construction in its territory, MANS sent an open letter to Zeljko Sturanovic, Minister of Justice, Boro Vucinic, Minister of Environmental Protection and Urban Planning, Dragan Djurovic, Minister of the Interior, Vesna Medenica, Chief Public Prosecutor, Sefko Crnovrsanin, Ombudsman for Human Rights. The open letter demands the suspension of all illegal action of the Public Construction and Building Inspectorate and abolishment of all decisions that conflict the positive legislation, in order to protect the rights and freedoms of the citizens, guaranteed by the Constitution, legislation and international treaties.
