10.05.2005 On May 9, MANS submitted a Request for review of the Decisions adopted by the Commission on Conflict of Interests in the cases involving Miomir Mugosa, the Mayor of Podgorica, and Slobodan Lekovic, the Chairperson of the Commission. MANS also requested that public debate is organized on both initiatives, on the bases of Article 24 of the Rules of Procedures of the Commission on Conflict of Interest, with obligatory presence by both Mugosa and Lekovic.

10.05.2005 The Unified Action Plan for Inclusion of Roma in the System of Education was presented yesterday in Belgrade. Approximately 80 percent of Roma in Serbia is fully or functionally illiterate, two thirds have not completed even elementary school, and only one fifth of Roma children are included in the education system.

09.05.2005 The displaced persons from Kosovo and Metohija in Serbia and Montenegro find themselves in the most serious position of all persons forced to leave their homes, and their basic human rights have been suspended, says the Group 484 in its “Report on the Rights of Forced Migrants 2004”.

09.05.2005 The Day of Remembrance of Persons who died of AIDS will be observed in Serbia and Montenegro on May 15. This is the first time SCG will observe the day, and the activities will be accompanied by a media campaign “You Can Live with AIDS Nowadays”. The latest estimates set the number of people infected with HIV at more than 10,000, with more than 800 AIDS related deaths over the past two decades.

09.05.2005 Traditionally, the European Movement in Serbia organizes the celebrations of May 9 – Europe Day for 2005.

06.05.2005 The “Peace Under Construction” peace caravan that will take the activists of the Regional Conscientious Objection Network to 13 cities all over the Balkans, will visit Serbian on May 7-9.

05.05.2005 The exhibition of socially engaged posters “Farewell to Arms, Farewell to War”, organized by Vojvodjanka – Regional Women Initative, the Office of the Provincial Ombudsman and the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, will open for visitors on May 5, at the Hall of the Vojvodina Executive Council Building in Novi Sad.

05.05.2005 The “United Against Narcotics” NGO announced yesterday the start of the campaign to collect six thousand signatures for a petition to change the Montenegro Criminal Code, regarding its provisions on illegal production, storage and trafficking of narcotics and opiates.

04.05.2005 The CRNPS Volunteer Centre started the implementation of the project “Towards European Integration Through Youth Volunteer Projects”, financed by the EU through the European Agency for Reconstruction, in cooperation with the European Movement in Serbia.

28.04.2005 On April 26, the SEE Media Organization – SEEMO called on the Government of Montenegro to respect the principle of independence of the media and to relieve the pressure on the media.
