The EU Police Mission to Bosnia and Herzegovina (EUPM) started the monitoring of the preparations by the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Srpska, regarding the security at the forthcoming Commemoration Ceremony in Srebrenica.

The City of Prijedor, through the Local Democracy Agency, got another important partner in the strengthening of the civil society when it signed the Agreement on Cooperation with the Pensioners Trade Union of Friulli Venezia Guilia Region in Italy. The direct result of the newly agreed cooperation will be the construction of Senior Citizens Home in Rizvanovici, a returnee settlement in Prijedor.

The B&H State Electoral Commission announced a public competition for three empty seats. The Competition was open after the public campaign against gender inequality in the Election Commission, started by the Women and Society Centre.

In the organization of the ViaKult Office civic association, the second Kid’s Festival starts today in Sarajevo. The Kid’s Festival is the greatest event in B&H dedicated to children and youth from all parts of the country.

Dragoljub Davidovic, the Mayor of Banja Luka, signed an a Contract on Construction Works for the building of the Cultural-Information Centre with Library for Persons with Impaired Vision in Banja Luka. The actual works on the facility, first of its kind in the Republic of Srpska, are expected to start soon.

The UNDP BiH, together with the United Nations Office of the Higher Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) and the Minister for Human Rights and Refugees in BiH presented today the Methodology and Tools for the Assessment and human rights based Analysis in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Although the majority of disabled persons is able to work, most of them remain unemployed, concluded the workshop on the right to employment of persons with disabilities and persons with special needs, held in Mostar last Friday.

The “Women and Society” centre from Sarajevo strongly condemned the decision by the State Electoral Commission to fill its ranks not through a public competition, but that the members should be appointed by the Parliament. At the same time, the Centre reminded at the appalling gender misballance in the Commission and demanded that it is repaired .
