“The WorldBank has secured 10 million US Dollars for the programme and reform in higher education it implements in Bosnia and Herzegovina”, announced Dirk Reinermann, the Head of the WB Office in B&H, at the lecture on the role of the WorldBank in the strengthening of youth activism in B&H he gave in Mostar. The lecture was organized by the Nansen Dialogue Centre Mostar.

Azra Pasalic will present the Prijedor experiences in the improvement of reintegration, through cooperation of the local authorities and the NGO sector, at the “Good Governance, Return and Reintegration” Conference that started yesterday in Sarajevo, organized by the Danish Refugee Council and the International Centre for Peace.

According to the results of the public opinion survey, conducted in April 2004 by Prism Research agency, 82.3% of B&H citizens hold generally negative opinion on homosexuality, regardless of their sex. This is the first poll to test the public opinion on homosexuality and prostitution in the country.

The Exhibition “Trento: Photographs and Memories of the City” was opened at the “Kozara” Museum in Prijedor. The exhibition was proposed under the project for cooperation and exchange between the cultural institutions from the two cities “Kozara” Museum and the “Cyril and Methodius” Library from Prijedor, and the Trento Historical Museum.

The exhumation of bodies from the mass grave in Suha village, near Bratunac, was completed yesterday, May 12. 38 bodies of killed women, children and elderly people were found in the grave. It is assumed that the bodies belong to Bosniaks killed at the beggining of Bosnian War on the territory of Bratunac Municipality.

The House of Peoples of the B&H Parliamentary Assembly adopted the Anti-Fascism Resolution, passed ten days ago by the House of the Representatives. The adoption of this document by the House of Peoples of the Parliamentary Assembly was accompanied by heated verbal exchange between the political parties from the BH Federation and the Republic of Srpska.

The newly established Gender Agency in Bosnia and Herzegovina has been officially opened today. At this occasion, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Government of Canada through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) presented the new two-year sub-regional joint initiative for Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia-Montenegro.
