30.07.2004 The Mayors of twelve municipalities in the Herzegovina-Neretva and Western Herzegovina Cantons participated in the presentations of the pilot-project of Waste Incinerator facility for the Herzegovina Region worth 40 million Euro, which should be co-financed by the European Union. This is an investment that, on the basis of it effectiveness, would be second only to the restarting of the Mostar Aluminium Corporation in terms of importance for Herzegovina.

30.07.2004 At is session of Wednesday, July 28, the Parliamentary Committee for Gender Equality decided to distribute the Bosnia and Herzegovina Law on Gender Equality to the Members of the Parliament, and announced that it will supply the legislation from other states in order to inspect and review the models used to regulate the issue of gender equality.

29.07.2004 Most parties of the national minorities, but also minor political parties in the political scene of Vojvodina, protested the high election threshold in the proposed new legislation on electoral system in the province. Parties of the minorities are dissatisfied by the fact that the new rules for election of members of parliament of multinational Vojvodina don't provide for a positive discrimination of the minorities.

29.07.2004 The Dutch authorities refused the Visa Application of Tomislav Nikolic, leader of the Radical Party of Serbia and runner-up in the last Presidential Elections in Serbia. Nikolic planned to visit Vojislav Seselj in the Scheveningen Prison.

28.07.2004 Amici dei Bambini (AIBI) association (Friends of Children) was founded in 1986, as a non-governmental association that works on projects and intervention in cases of abandoned children. The majority of interventions and projects implemented by AIBI are designed for single-parent families. The goals of the interventions are: to offer to children and youth a place where they can meet, play together, hang around and grow up together in happiness. AIBI Centres are also places for gathering and friendship of single mothers which, if needed, may receive psychological support with the aim to overcome difficulties and problems.

27.07.2004 The NATO-led Kosovo Force and U.N. international police failed catastrophically to protect minorities during the widespread rioting in Kosovo in March, Human Rights Watch said today in the first detailed report on the attacks. Protection of minority communities will be a key challenge for the new U.N. administrator for Kosovo, Soren Jessen-Petersen, who is scheduled to take office on August 3.
