Le terrorisme est odieux, comme le sont toutes les formes de crime ou de violence contre des civils. Mais le phénomène n’est pas nouveau : le droit pénal antérieur (à la Loi antiterroriste) et les accords internationaux offrent un cadre juridique suffisant pour traiter du problème, pourvu qu’on les utilise de manière adéquate. La lutte contre le terrorisme ne doit pas nous entraîner à sacrifier les valeurs et libertés démocratiques qu’elle est censée protéger.

An explosion hit a police station in the Macedonian capital late on Friday in what appeared to be the second attack on police this week. A senior police official said a device had exploded about 23:30hours outside the police station in Bitpazar, a mainly ethnic Albanian quarter, a few kilometres from Skopje city centre.

A Londra e in tutta l’Europa sono stati osservati due minuti di silenzio per le vittime e i feriti degli attentanti della scorsa settimana. Intanto in Italia si sta sviluppando una vasta operazione con oltre 170 persone fermate che ha nel mirino gli ambienti dell'integralismo islamico. “Non basteranno le misure investigative. Se i governi vogliono seriamente prevenire e combattere il terrorismo, invece di attaccare i pacifisti, devono aprirsi all’ascolto della società civile” hanno dichiarato i promotori della Marcia Perugia-Assisi che rilanciano una mobilitazione in occasione dell11 settembre. E una lettera di solidarietà indirizzata "ai musulmani e alle musulmane in Italia" da esponenti delle associazioni e movimenti per la pace. Una prima risposta è arrivata dal portavoce dell'European Muslim Network che cerca di rispondere alle grandi questioni aperte.

Una lettera di solidarietà indirizzata "ai musulmani e alle musulmane in Italia" è stata inviata da oggi da esponenti delle associazioni che componevano il comitato "Fermiamo la Guerra", promotore delle manifestazioni "milionarie" contro la guerra all'Iraq del 15 febbraio 2003 e del 20 marzo 2004. "Pensiamo che le bombe di Londra colpiscano anche voi" - dicono i firmatari, che si dichiarano "scandalizzati che alcuni giornali definiscano 'islamico' il terrorismo" e propongono una collaborazione con il popolo della pace per evitare lo "scontro di civiltà".La lettera è stata inviata al Centro Cultrale Islamico della Moschea di Roma, all'Unione delle Comunità Islamiche in Italia (UCOII), al Centro islamico Culturale d'Italia, al COREIS e nei prossimI giorni verrà inviata ad altri organismi e a tutte le moschee italiane. Si le bilan de plus en plus lourd des journalistes ayant perdu la vie aux Philippines doit servir d'indice, l'année 2005 est en train de devenir une autre année dangereuse pour les médias du pays. Le 3 juillet 2005, Rolando Morales est devenu le cinquième journaliste assassiné cette année, après que des individus armés lui eurent tendu un piège à General Santos City, dans l'île de Mindanao, selon ce que rapportent le Centre pour la liberté et la responsabilité des médias (Center for Media Freedom and Responsibility, CMFR), Reporters sans frontières (RSF), la Fédération internationale des journalistes (FIJ) et le Comité pour la protection des journalistes (CPJ).

En 2003, por cada grupo de 100 mil habitantes de Brasil, fueron registradas 29 muertes por homicidio - en 1980, el número era mucho menor: 11 por cada 100 mil habitantes. El homicidio ya es la principal causa de muerte entre los hombres en la banda etaria de 15 a 39 años.
