30.05.2007 There was no significant progress or changes in protection of children rights in Serbia, concludes the Children Rights Centre in its Report on Status of Children Rights for 2006.

30.05.2007 During last week’s debate in the Sabor (Croatian Parliament) on the report submitted by Gender Equality Ombudsperson, Karmela Caparin, an MP from the ruling HDZ (Croatian Democratic Community), said that there is more discrimination in labour and employment now, compared to previous years. In her view, the main cause for such regression is the insufficient public visibility of the work done by the Ombudsperson. The Croatian Women Network reacted strongly to that statement, but also to the debate in general.

23.05.2007 On May 18, the Croatian Sabor (the Parliament) adopted the Law on Volunteering that regulates the status of all legal and physical persons involved in organized volunteering.

22.05.2007 Makedonski Zelen Centar, Centar za zastapuvanje, lobiranje i istrazuvanje za prasanja od oblasta na zivotnata sredina,od Skopje zapocna so sproveduvanje na proektot „Formiranje na zelena lobi grupa vo makedonskiot parlament”. Proektot e finansiran od Britanskata Ambasada vo Republika Makedonija.

14.05.2007 The Humanitarian Voluntary Association of the Roma “Mesecina” from Gostivar accused the Macedonian state of discriminatory approach to the case of the Trajan Bekirov, a Romani adolescent whose death and the responsibility for it remain unsolved a full year after Bekirov was killed in a raid by the special police unit “Alfa”.

10.05.2007 Republickoto Sobranie na Republika Srpska na 24.oktomvri 2000.godina donese Zakon za rabota (objaven vo Sluzben vesnik RS br.38 na 8.noemvri 2000.godina ). Ona sto posebno privlece vnimanie se odredbite za sovet na rabotnicite (cl.109-111). Zakonot predviduva deka kaj rabotodavacite koi redovno vrabotuvaat najmalku 15 rabotnici, rabotnicite mozat da vospostavat sovet na rabotnici, koj gi prestavuva i gi stiti nivnite interesi.

03.05.2007 The Narodna Skupstina (People’s Parliament) of the Republic of Srpska adopted, on October 24, 2000, the Law on Labour (Official Journal of RS, No. 38, November 8, 2000). What attracted attention were the provisions on workers’ council in Articles 109-111. The Law provides that all employees with more than 15 full-time employees, the workers can establish their own council to represent themselves and protect their rights.

03.05.2007 Albanian judges, prosecutors and police officers took part in seminars in the last two weeks on assisting victims of domestic violence. They were organized by the OSCE Presence in Albania, the Council of Europe and the Albanian School of Magistrates, and focused on the Law on Domestic Violence, which will enter into force in June.

02.05.2007 Gjykatës, prokurorë dhe policë shqiptarë morën pjesë në disa seminare për ndihmesën ndaj viktimave të dhunës në familje, të zhvilluara gjatë dy javëve të fundit. Ato u organizuan nga Presenca e OSBE-së në Shqipëri, Këshilli i Evropës dhe Shkolla e Magjistraturës dhe u përqendruan në Ligjin për Masa ndaj Dhunës në Marrëdhëniet Familjare, e cili do të hyjë në fuqi në qershor.
